Irish History Forum: floor of Gallarus Oratory
Posted by: Carol () on 30 Jan 2003 at 2:13:34 PM
Hello from Texas ---I'm writing a novel in which the main character kneels down to pray inside Gallarus Oratory, and I need a bit of description about the floor. I've been there, but I don't remember: What color is it, what kind of material is it made of (stone, pebble, dirt, etc.), texture (sharp? crumbly? hard? dusty?), how it would feel to kneel on (would it hurt her knees with sharp pebbles, would a smooth stone surface be cold, would the knees of her jeans get dirty?), etc. Can anybody help? A few details like this will help the scene come alive.
It is all done in a reverent, respectful way.
Thanks for any help.

If the person posting this message left their e-mail address, we inserted some random characters to prevent spammers from harvesting their address. Spammers do this with automated "bots" that constantly search the Web looking for e-mail addresses. Since you're a human being, not a bot, you can easily obtain the real address by removing the text that says "ThisisToPreventSpam-XYZ-RemoveThis." including the random number XYZ and the period at the end. For example, <whitten@ThisIsToPreventSpam-123-RemoveThis.despammed.com> would become <whitten@despammed.com>.
